big life news

December 11, 2015 by anne

As the year ends it brings reflection and plans for the new year. I have lots of goals for the new year and most of them pale in comparison to the big game changer that lies ahead in 2016.

After knowing each other for 5 years, being married for 3.5 years, we have decided to adopt.

We are so excited to be growing our family. We added Olive at the beginning of this year and look forward to seeing her be a great buddy to our new addition. She would do anything for more people to play with so I am sure she will adjust.

We are just getting started in the process and the big steps leading to the home study and becoming active adoptive parents won’t happen until early February. So for now, we get our paperwork together and get a lot of other ducks in a row.

There are always a lot of questions that people ask when you decide to adopt and most of them are extremely personal. I am not completely comfortable answering all of them in detail, but here is some information.

How long did you try? We have been trying since we were married. I have been to multiple doctors and going through the usual run of tests with no real answers except I am getting older and it may be harder.

What have you tried? We tried diets, vitamins and lots of patience. I also did acupuncture for a while. None of this helped though I did find acupuncture to be extremely relaxing.

Where are you adopting from? We are going through a local agency in Indianapolis that was recommended by a friend. We have loved the group of people there and feel they will make this a very special time for us. It will be a domestic adoption.

What age are you adopting? We will be adopting an infant 0-6 months.

Do you want a boy or a girl? Like a couple that is pregnant we just want a healthy baby and to grow our family.

How can I help? We have started a fundraising site and will also be working on some other fundraising projects down the road. We are hoping to have a coloring book and a community cookbook for sale as fundraisers in early January. Thanks to the generous help of friends and family. If you want to know more about either of these just email me.
