This year I am challenging myself to cook from every food magazine I get. Something had to happen to keep me from collecting recipes from magazines that I have never made and probably won't. The real goal is to give me even more dinner ideas and make me branch out from old favorites a little more often. I am really excited about this and think it is going to make cooking even more fun. Not to mention make me a little more discerning about which magazines I buy at the store and what recipes I tear out of the magazines. I am never going to make souffle and if I change my mind one of my 40+ cookbooks can tell me all about it.
Maybe you will find some new ones you like too. I subscribe to 4 magazines that are food magazines or have recipes regularly. In addition to those I have a habit of impulsively picking up others at the grocery store. So if you follow along you will have the chance to find quite a few tested recipes each month.
Each month I list the magazines I have received in the mail or purchased on impulse. By the end of the year there should be a link under each magazine.
Update: August 2nd and I have made some progress on cooking some of the recipes. Now just to get more on the blog to have any hope of having proof of completing this project. So far I have cooked 14 recipes out of the 34 magazines that have graced my door. The down side is every time I make some progress another magazine shows up in the mail! I have 3 Bon Appetit that I haven't even opened yet. At this point I have 21 more recipes I have to complete to get current. I think I can do this. If I could get the first half of the year completed before the holidays get in full swing I will be in pretty good shape.
